Compact Keyboards

With correct chair set up, it is important to get all other aspects of the office workstation right. The European guideline (ISO Standard) advises a neutral position when using a keyboard and mouse. However, when using a full length keyboard this is not achievable.

According to Bakker Elkhuizen, research by Microsoft shows that an active computer user covers 32 km with his or her fingers daily. Therefore, the keyboard is an important part of the computer and this means choosing the right keyboard is vital. With a compact keyboard, the number pad is usually removed to create a shorter than standard type. A neutral position can be adopted as the mouse is bought in closer to the keyboard.

At Total Back Care Centre a range of compact keyboards can be trialled under the guidance of either Dr Rob Harrison or Mrs Jessica Roberts. Please ring on 0121 454 3900 to organise your Consultation.
