Jess, our lovely in-house Ergonomist has now started her maternity leave & we wish her & her family every happiness in anticipation of baby’s imminent arrival!
Dr Rob Harrison will be covering Jess’s consultations at our Edgbaston Centre & Angela will be increasing her workload to cover Jess’s administrative duties. Neil will continue to provide deliveries & set-ups.
We look forward to having Jess back in the team in January 2022 & will do our very best to maintain our usual high standards of customer care in the meantime!
This financial year it was Angela’s turn to select our chosen charities.
Her first choice was Our Place Support, a not for profit community enterprise scheme, which provides a mentoring programme in partnership with schools to support children’s mental health. She qualified as a Mentor herself during Lockdown 1 & has been actively involved ever since.
Her second was Twycross Zoo’s CV-19 Emergency Appeal, to help fund the animals upkeep during the extended lockdown periods.
And her third was VaccinAid, to help provide lifesaving CV-19 vaccines to countries who need it most. Having visited Cambodia & Sumatra, among many other countries on the emergency list & encountered the most wonderful people on her travels, she was in no doubt of the need to step up. She’s also been volunteering as a Vaccination Steward in Birmingham, to help on a more local level too.

As May 17th arrives & lockdown restrictions ease, we respectfully remind Clients that we continue to operate a CV-19 safe workplace.
Our youngest staff member is not yet vaccinated & therefore at risk, particularly to the new variant. To protect her & all unvaccinated Clients, we still require any visitor to our Consultation Centres to wear a face mask, use hand sanitiser & maintain social distancing. Only one Client can attend an appointment at any time, we deep clean between appointments & our Consultants will continue to sit behind a protective screen for the duration of the consultation.
As a business, we act as a team, so whilst older members are privileged to have received both doses of the vaccine; we feel strongly that it is our duty now to protect those in younger generations who have not yet had the good fortune to obtain the same level of protection.
Both our Edgbaston Village & Sutton Coldfield Consultation Centres are fully operational & Dr Harrison is now attending consultations at Client’s workplaces under strict CV-19 guidelines.

We remain open with strict CV-19 procedures in place.
Consultations are available by Phone, Zoom, Teams or What’s App for clients needing to isolate.
Where clients have medical / disability needs or are experiencing work related back/neck pain, requiring face to face consultations, our Centres will be open strictly by appointment. Our Consultants will be home based but will travel to our Centres for Client Consultations; as trial of equipment is an integral & optimal part of our specification process. Impossible to fully replicate remotely, especially where clients have specific ergonomic support needs.
Parking is directly outside & clients must wear a mask, use the hand sanitiser & agree to a temperature check when entering the buildings.
Our Consultation suites are deep cleaned with anti-viral products before & after each consultation. Our Consultants wear a visor/mask & will be seated behind a perspex screen for the duration of the consultation. Social distance is maintained at both centres. At this time only one client can attend per appointment.
We are unable to offer our usual set up service within client’s homes. Equipment can be delivered (desk frames pre-assembled as required) to the doorstep & our Consultants will guide clients through the correct set up for their particular needs by phone. They will remain available for advice on adjustments over the phone throughout Lockdown 3 & once we’re out of it, a home/workplace visit can be arranged to optimise set up if so required.
Please don’t suffer with work-related back/neck pain during Lockdown 3.

We’re delighted to have opened a consultation centre in Sutton Coldfield, providing easier geographical access to clients on the north-eastern side of Birmingham. The new centre is fully equipped with a wide range of ergonomic office chairs, desks & accessories; all available to trial as part of our consultation service. Free parking right outside.
Already, we’re receiving great feedback on our Edgbaston Village Consultation Centre’s location. Close to Fiveways island, with free on-road parking right outside. Great bus & train connectivity throughout the city. A comfortable & private arena for one to one consultations, with our wide range of ergonomic equipment available to trial.
Our in-house Ergonomist, Jessica, is available on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday in Edgbaston Village. Dr Rob Harrison is available Monday to Thursday in either Sutton Coldfield or Edgbaston Village. He can also attend your place of work – details of fees on ‘About Us’ tab of website.
We welcome individual & business clients by appointment at both centres.

We will continue to operate during the second lockdown, in accordance with our established CV-19 policies.
Consultations are strictly by appointment and on a 1:1 basis only.
Our Consultation Rooms are cleaned with anti-viral products before & after every consultation. We use hand-sanitisers & ask clients to wear a mask when walking in public areas, to & from the Consultation Rooms.
There is a protective screen fitted between Consultant & Client for the duration of the consultation & social distance will be maintained throughout.
We’re also providing Telephone or Video Consultations across platforms including Zoom, Teams & Whats App to suit individual client needs.
During lockdown, items can be delivered to the doorstep & a telephone/video set up arranged to coincide with the equipment arriving. A face to face set up can follow, once we are out of lockdown, if required.
We welcome Neil to our team, who is assisting us with deliveries whilst Dr Harrison is in recovery from a recent operation. Both Rob & Jessica will continue to offer 1:1, telephone & video consultations during this time.

Total Back Care is 25 years old this October & we’ve come a long way during that time! Celebrations are on hold but we’re still moving forwards.
Our main focus remains Workplace/Home Worker Ergonomics & the importance of one to one Consultations, with the opportunity to trial a range of appropriate equipment under expert guidance.
From 12th October 2020, we’re leaving The Studio & have set up TWO new Consultation Centres in its place – in Edgbaston Village & Sutton Coldfield!

With more employee’s seeking to continue Working From Home, it’s essential that Home Office’s are set up ergonomically & in line with DSE regulations. Already, we’re seeing Clients with back/neck pain caused by poor working conditions at home.
It really is a false economy to purchase equipment, without the opportunity to try out a range of options before you buy & discuss your unique physical & workplace needs with a leading expert in the field.

As the effects of the CV-19 pandemic continue, working from home has become a neccessary option for many office workers. However, many home working set ups are not compliant with DSE regulations, paving the way to increased back/neck strain & other RSI complications.
In response to client demand, we have put together two size options of our most cost effective DSE compliant ergonomic office chair, which we are happy to endorse for WFH purposes. They include the key features we would look for when recommending a chair to alleviate & prevent back/neck strain. We have also put together essential DSE compliant laptop/desk top accessories, depending on individual need.
We continue to resist selling online, as our ethos & reputation are built on individual consultations & stellar customer care. In that light, we’ve used our Ergonomic expertise to put together, what we believe are, the best & most cost-effective options available for Home Working.

We have introduced new procedures to keep everyone safe during our Ergonomic Consultation.
We operate by individual appointment only & you can park right outside The Studio’s front door. Our Consultant will be wearing a Face Mask & Gloves & stand 2 metres aside as you enter. You’ll find our Hand Sanitising Station immediately on your right, where you can also collect a Face Mask & Gloves. We supply Type 1 disposable Face Mask’s, which are suitable for 4 hours use; so we’re not taking medical grade PPE from the NHS & Care Sectors.
We’ve made our Showroom open plan, to allow a clear 2 metre gap at all times. You’ll be directed into the Consultation Room & asked to take the first seat on your left at the desk area. Our Consultant will sit at the far end of the desk behind a Perspex Screen, from where they will assist you in the trial of appropriate equipment, following discussion, for your condition & needs. The Consultation Room door will be left open to allow ventilation.
We’ve never worked by taking anatomical measurements, believing it is far more important to trial appropriate products under our expert guidance & have the option to choose which suits your needs best.
This also eliminates the need for close physical contact.
We’ve allowed extra time between appointments, for a deep clean of equipment trialled using medical grade anti-viral cleaning products.
Full guidance on our procedures will be sent out with the normal Consultation Booking Form.
Dr Harrison is also offering a Telephone Consultation, by appointment, to Clients who are in isolation, using his experience & extensive product range knowledge to recommend appropriate equipment.
